A study published in the journal PLOS ONE found that herbs that contain cilantro and ginger could help to prevent the onset of anxiety and depression, and improve sleep quality.
In a study involving more than 4,500 participants, researchers looked at the effects of herbal medicine in the form of capsules, and found that those who received cilantro- and ginger-infused capsules had a decrease in their anxiety, which was associated with improvements in sleep quality, as well as a decrease risk of insomnia.
The study also found that participants who took a cilantro supplement had more frequent nightmares, but that the benefits of the cilantro herb were not as clear-cut as previously believed.
The authors said that the results showed that there was potential for using cilantro to improve sleep and that the study may shed light on other beneficial properties of cilantro that are not commonly known.
